Bowling

We hit up the bowling alley with the Fredrickson family and Carter's friend Elden. The kids had a lot of fun, it was the least expensive entertainment around...$16 for all 8 of us to bowl and rent shoes!

As you can see from the scorecard, it wasn't Darin's best game. (t is kind of hard to see, but Rowen had a higher score than Darin. In fairness, I should disclose that the kids had gutter guards and Darin didn't.) The kid's scores are on the left and the adult's are on the right. The order is Caden, Rowen, Carter, Elden and Darin, Mary Ann, Kristin & Dave.

BOYS!

The boys have been in the bathtub giggling and making noises for about 20 minutes. Wow, it is amazing what entertains BOYS!

Weekend at Terry Peak

The Martz family asked us to join them at their cabin at Terry Peak on Saturday night. We went up after Carter's basketball camp at the Y on Saturday afternoon. It was lots of fun! The kids played hard. On Sunday, we went skiing for a while, then back to the cabin for lunch and sledding. Here are some fun pictures of the day.

Carter didn't have school today, and he is also off tomorrow. I decided to work both days, so the boys will both be at the Y. Tonight they went out to shop for a birthday gift for me. It should be pretty good...I had to tell them repeatedly that I didn't want a tractor or a combine! Carter kept asking, "what about a picture frame in the shape of a combine, then you can put a picture of me in it"! It will be interesting to see if they can keep this a secret until Thursday!
My favorite...no dishwasher so Darin is doing dishes!

I think we need to quit feeding these boys!

I've been trying to go through clothes, jeans, toys and get rid of things that we are growing out of. It seemed that I had a lot of clothes that we had out grown and I think this is why....

On a wall of our garage, I've been keeping track of the boy's heights. I started about a year ago for Carter and in April for Caden. This definitely explains what is going on!

Brrrr....

The cold weather is finally here and I'm not sure that it is leaving anytime soon. I know that I will get no sympathy from my family in the north, since they have it much worse. I decided that when it is cold this winter I will think of this picture from last week, December 29th. We were playing soccer outside...Carter in shorts. Although it wasn't really shorts weather, it was beautiful for December.

2011 begins with losing ANOTHER tooth!

Another exiting day as Carter lost his second tooth. I tried to yank it out last night, but with no luck. Tonight, he came out of the bathroom carrying his tooth. He pulled it out himself! He'll sure have an exciting story of what he did on his Christmas vacation to share at school tomorrow!

We took the boys to Terry Peak this morning. It is always fun to watch them ski, but it was cold, windy and miserable. We were only there for a few hours. Carter picked up right where he left off last year and has been riding the chairlift with Darin and skiing down. Caden is just starting to build up his confidence again. He rides the "magic carpet" up the bunny slope and has been working hard to get his form as he skis down.

The vacation is now almost over and it is back to work and school tomorrow morning. It has been a great time, a good mix of family time and relaxation. The house is clean, clothes are washed and we have meals in the fridge for the next few days, so we should be off to a good start!

New Year's Eve Excitement

With the cold, ugly weather, it was a pretty quiet New Year's Eve. In the evening, Carter showed me how his tooth was now twirling around in his mouth, so I told him that it had to come out.

He wasn't sure how to get it out, so I stood behind him (so I didn't have to watch) and yanked. When it came out we all laughed SO hard! Definitely one of my favorite memories of 2010!

Here are the before and after shots:

Caden didn't want to be left out of the fun of taking pictures of teeth:

We are now off to Chucky Cheese. Since the boys haven't left the house/neighborhood since Tuesday and we haven't been out of the house much since Wednesday, it seems like an OK (??) idea.
