The Esser family is back to blogging.
It is probably an understatement to say that we have a loose tooth. We actually have a hanging-by-a-thread-of-skin loose tooth. This is our first one. How do get these things out?
As some of you may know, Carter has been waiting patiently to lose a tooth. As a 6 1/2 year-old, he has seen many, many friends lose teeth at school, soccer, church, etc and have visits from the Tooth Fairy.
Tonight, I asked him how much money the Tooth Fairy brings, he told me $5.29. Odd amount...doesn't that seem high?
Stay tuned, hopefully we will soon post a picture with a missing tooth!

Happy Birthday to Carter!
Wow...where did the last six years go? It doesn't seem that long ago that we brought a little crying baby home from the hospital. Boy, he sure has changed our lives!
Carter had a very fun birthday weekend with his friends and cousins. We went to Bear Country on Saturday morning, then had a bowling party.

Rain...Rain...Go Away!
I was hoping to have some soccer pictures to share this weekend, but yesterday's soccer games were called off because of rain. Carter didn't get any action on the field last season, because of his own stubbornness. However, after a little trickery during the first game of the season, he's been playing and having a great time.
Next weekend, his soccer game ended up being at the same time as his birthday party, so we'll have to miss that. So we just have one game left for the season. It's been a lot of fun to watch him! He's scored 4 goals in the 2 games they have played so far...altho they don't keep score.

Caden's Program
Caden's class at the Y had a program on Thursday night. They sang about 15 songs and did a special alphabet song at the end. That is his teacher Suzie in the picture above.
For the alphabet song, they said the letter that their name starts with and another word that starts with that letter. Here's Caden:
He said "C is for Caden and Cars"...I think only Suzie could hear him right here, but he's practiced on us since the event. He is holding a paper with a C on the front and a car on the back.

Ouch!
Poor Carter took a spill down the bus steps on Wednesday and scratched up his nose and forehead. Poor guy! I stopped by the Y to check on him after it happened and he was trying to be so tough and brave. He was a little unsure of going to school the next day with the battle scars on his nose....

Caden's Birthday
It is hard to believe that our little Caden is now 4 years old. Here are some pictures from his birthday...
Great Grandma Hahler made the bunny cake for Easter, so we put some candles in it for Caden's birthday. He hid under the table while we sang Happy Birthday, but did a great job blowing out the candles. Later on at Esser Grandma and Papa's house, we tried the candles again, but he wasn't up for it.

Caden 3.2.2010
Me: Caden, what are you doing?
Caden: Nothing, just playin' in mud.
What an honest kid! He was working so hard today in my planter, driving his pickup with a trailer and 4-wheeler through the dirt and mud. I wonder what is going to happen when I plant some flowers in there in the next few months? We may need to get a sandbox!

Basement Update
Our basement project: Phase 1 is in the final stages...thank goodness! We are just waiting on carpet, which is supposed to be installed this Wednesday, then we can start moving things around and living in the space. Here are some pictures from today. Darin is in the process of staining trim and a door, so you can see that laying around.
This first picture is when your first come down the stairs, there will still be a little room there:
This is from one corner of the basement:
And the other corner:
It is so nice to have the sheetrock and taping done. That created a never-ending layer of dust on everything. Darin painted last week, so that mess is complete now too. Now, once we get rid of the fumes from stain and finish, life will be good!

St .Patrick's Day Fun
We are now back to blogging at the Esser house. There was lots of excitement today for St. Patrick's Day. Caden's class has been talking about green things all week and he had his clothes for today picked out since last week. He had to bring something green to eat today, so he wanted to bring celery. What a nice, easy selection for his mom to get ready (as opposed to cookies, cupcakes, etc). Here is the little leprechaun before he left for school this morning. He is quite the accessorizer.
Both boys were convinced that they needed to wear green PJs to bed last night, so the leprechauns didn't pinch them in the night. Carter also said that we needed to leave cream, oatmeal and butter out for the leprechauns to eat. I only had sour cream, so hopefully that worked for them.
At first, I mixed all three together, then Carter informed me that wouldn't work.
Aside from the St. Patrick's Day fun, it was a beautiful day. We snuck home after Wednesday school so the boys could play outside for a while when it was so nice out. It is supposed to be rainy and snowy the next two days. Also, Happy 3rd Birthday to cousin Tate!

Where did the weekend go?
Is what I'm trying to figure out! Darin & Carter went ice fishing yesterday, while Caden helped me clean house as we had some friends over for the Vikings game tonight. We were a bit disappointed with the outcome, but had a lot of fun.
I enjoy reading blog posts and came across this one yesterday. Our house seems to be so LOUD with two energetic boys. I want to try this and see if it helps us communicate a little better!
Carter doesn't have school tomorrow...I can't believe how many days they get off school! So both boys will be at the Y all day, which will be nice. We have lots of leftovers from the football party tonight to munch on this week, so I shouldn't have to worry about what is for supper.

Skiing
Okay - it is time to get back on track with keeping our blog updated. Today, we all went up to Terry Peak for a little skiing fun. Darin and the boys all have season passes, so we need to take advantage of the nice weather (like today) to get up there. Today was Carter's second try at skiing and Caden's first shot at it. They did a great job!
Carter was a bit tuckered out on the ride home!

Fun with the Fredrickson Family
We've been having a ton of fun with the Fredrickson family since they arrived last Wednesday. Their little guy, Rowen (2 1/2), has been having a great time with the Esser boys. I have been loving up their 5-month-old twin girls. We spent New Year's Eve eating crab legs and getting to bed by 11:00....party animals, huh! Friday, we loaded up and headed to Deer Mtn. and spent two nights at a cabin there. Darin and the boys went tubing at Deer Mtn. yesterday. We got back today and have been relaxing. Here are some pictures from the past few days:
